Research & Scholarship

ASALH promotes a comprehensive study of African American history and culture and supports scholars, educators, and independent researchers.
 

Education & Public Programs

The branch presents lectures, forums, and community conversations; offers teacher resources and curriculum support; and encourages engagement and intergenerational learning.
 

Community History & Preservation

ASALH documents Savannah’s African American life, institutions, and leaders. The organization also supports museums, archives, and preservation groups while advocating for the preservation of historic African American sites and stories.
 

Annual Celebrations

ASALH presents Black History Month, Juneteenth, Carter G. Woodson's birthday and other programs rooted in annual national themes.
